AMERICANAIRLINES ARENA RANKS #7 IN NATION, #1 IN FLORIDA
Pollstar Announces 2011 Worldwide Ticket Sales
MIAMI – October 24, 2011 – The AmericanAirlines Arena ranks first across Florida, outselling all other arenas in the state, according to Pollstar’s recent report, 2011 Q3 Worldwide Ticket Sales - Top 100 Arena Venues. AmericanAirlines Arena also ranks among the nation’s top seven venues and number 18 in the world.
AmericanAirlines Arena earned its lead ranking by selling over 340,000 tickets year to date. AmericanAirlines Arena’s Executive Vice President of HEAT Group Enterprises Mike Walker attributes these ticket sales to the venue’s ability to draw world class performers, even during a recession.
Statistics from Pollstar show that ticket sales in the U.S. grossed a total of $1.12 billion in the first half of 2011, an increase of 16.2% during the same period in 2010. Pollstar shows that even with ticket prices increasing 13.6% for an average price of $84.92, fans still are flocking to see their favorite artists. With a solid schedule of must-see performances, AmericanAirlines Arena expects to finish the year equally as strong.
“From megastars like Marc Anthony, Britney Spears, Sade and Maná, to shows like WWE and Disney on Ice, the lineup of acts that AmericanAirlines Arena presents continues to draw fans in record-breaking numbers,” said Walker. “This caliber of performances combined with the world-class entertainment experience that only AmericanAirlines Arena can offer, is what allows us to achieve this kind of success in ticket sales, and the top ranking in the state.”
