Why is the AmericanAirlines Arena a great place to host an event?
The AmericanAirlines Arena is the home to the NBA World Champions, the Miami HEAT and to numerous first class entertainment and sporting events. Our unique and creative event space offers a great alternative for private events on the arena floor, in one of our exclusive restaurants or waterfront outdoor plaza. Our experienced event coordinators can help custom design your event utilizing HEAT game elements, such as the center-hung scoreboard, LED boards and Miami HEAT Entertainment.
How do I go about booking an event at the AmericanAirlines Arena?
The Special Events Department is dedicated to planning and producing events at the AmericanAirlines Arena. Please take a look at our Special Event section on the www.aaarena.com website under Book Events for event suggestions and photos. Simply call 786-777-4211 to check your availability on your desired date(s) and provide the following information: What kind of event you are planning, how many guests you will expect or space required & how long you will need to reserve the venue. We welcome the opportunity to give you the “grand tour” of the arena event space and make suggestions to add the “WOWFactor” to your next special event.
How far in advance can I book an event on the AmericanAirlines Arena?
The special event booking window at the AmericanAirlines Arena is approximately 90 days out, during the NBA (pre and post) season, November – June. During this time, a second hold can be placed on a date and confirmed once the schedule is released, based on availability.Large scale events requiring use of the Arena Bowl during the off-season may be booked up to six months in advance, based on availability. What is the fee to rent event space at the Arena?
Each special event has different function space needs and production requirements. Therefore, once we have confirmed availability and determined your event needs, the facility fee and an estimate of expenses will be provided. The facility fee includes use of the space for a designated time and includes house utilities and basic equipment such as tables, chairs and staging. Expenses may refer to but are not limited to the labor and staffing required to operate the event and housekeeping. Additional fees may include catering, audio visual services, tech labor and parking. If special effect sound and lighting are requested, such as the use of the center-hung scoreboard video screens or LED ring, additional rental fees will apply. Your Event Coordinator can also recommended vendors for specialty needs for production, audio visual, décor, linens, centerpieces, etc.
What is required to book event space at the arena?
Once the event is confirmed, a license agreement will be executed and an insurance certificate will be requested. Once the contract is signed by both parties and the insurance is on file, the event will be officially “booked.”
What are the insurance requirements for vendors?
Certificate of Insurance Compliance

1. Proof of Commercial General Liability – a minimum of $1,000,000
2. Product/Comp Op Aggregate Liability if separate to CGL on covering food poisoning per occurrence of a minimum of $1,000,000 & minimum of med coverage of $5,000
3. Proof of Workers Compensation as dictated by the State of Florida
4. Automobile Liability of combined single limit each accident of $1,000,000

Is the AmericanAirlines Arena a union facility?
The arena is not a Union facility. The AmericanAirlines Arena is managed and operated by The HEAT Group. We are pleased to offer comprehensive event services from our exclusive partners. CSC–Event Staff and Security, Levy Restaurants–Catering and Concessions, Prichard–Event Cleaning and Facility Housekeeping and IMC – Stagehands and Rigging.
Can I bring in outside food and beverage?
No outside food and beverage is allowed in the building. Our award-wining caterer, Levy Restaurants, will take of your needs. Menus can be custom designed, based on theme and most budgets, Please contact 786-777-2076 for more information regarding catering menus and services.
Can we bring in alcoholic beverage donations for charity events?
Levy Restaurants is the exclusive caterer of the AmericanAirlines Arena and holds the liquor license for the building. Arrangements may be made for alcoholic beverages to be donated for charity events, however, the proper arrangements must be made and approved in advance by Levy Restaurants management. Levy Restaurants employees are trained in the Responsible Vendor program and must pour the alcoholic beverages. Corkage and service fees will apply.
Can I host an event at the Arena before a Miami HEAT game, concert or family show?
A valid ticket is required to enter the Arena on a game or event day. If you have already purchased group tickets and would like to have an event prior to a game or family show,contact your Group Account Manager.If you need group tickets, please call 786-777-4FUN for a family show or 786-777-DUNK for a Miami HEAT game. Arrangements can be made to have a catered party on the East Plaza, Birthday Area or Party Suite, based on availability. For more information regarding catering, please contact the Levy Restaurants Catering Department at 786-777-2076 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.For select concert and shows, VIP Hospitality Ticket Packages will be available for small and large groups. For select concerts, dinner reservations may be available at the Dewar’s 12 Clubhouse.
Can my guests park at the Arena for my event?
The Arena (P2) Parking Garage is conveniently located under the Arena and can accommodate up to 1,000 cars. We also provide valet services for both private and public events. In addition, arrangements can be made for Motor Coach/Bus or limo staging. The local area offers additional convenient parking locations near by. Visit the Directions/Parking section on the www.aaarena.com website for more information and directions to the Arena.
Do you offer audio visual services at the Arena?
The AmericanAirlines Arena offers a vast array of audio visual, IT and broadcast services.Our HEAT TV crew is available for special events and offers state-of-the-art post production editing capabilities in addition to providing “WOW Factor” special effects on the Arena’s house sound and lighting features. The Arena is equipped with TV ready JBT hook-ups, Ethernet and phone lines. You are also welcome to bring in your own audio visual company. We request all vendors to provide a valid certificate of insurance prior to the day of the event.
Can we hang banners in the arena event space?
Private events can display banners inside the Arena. The Arena requests a list of sponsor names or sample of signage prior to the event and our staff will assist with hanging the banners. No nails, tape or glue are allowed on arena walls or ceilings. The arena offers electronic signage opportunities on our interior LED rings, internal TV monitors and on the center-hung scoreboard video screens. (Additional fees may apply for production and use of the LED and Scoreboard). Event or Sponsor banners requested to be placed on the exterior of the building must be approved in advance and may require permits. (Permit fees may apply).
Can I have the HEAT Dancers or Burnie the Miami HEAT Mascot appear at our event?
Sure! HEAT up your event with a visit from our HEAT Entertainment squad. Please refer to the HEAT Entertainment section of the www.aaarena.com for special event booking information. Can we buy Miami HEAT merchandise to give to our event attendees?
Definitely! The HEAT Store is conveniently located on the Mezzanine Level of the Arena and has an extensive collection of NBA attire and team merchandise. You can purchase items for your group in advance at a discount, or we can even schedule a visit to the store during your event for guests to purchase their own merchandise. What is the procedure to request a Miami HEAT donated items for my silent auction or raffle fundraiser?
Please submit a formal request on company/charity letterhead to Ralph Leon, Director of Community Affairs, 601 Biscayne Blvd., Miami, Florida 33132. If your event is going to be hosted at the Arena, please indicate that in your request. In the letter, please include what you are requesting, when you will need the item and what the proceeds will benefit. Galas and Banquets
The AmericanAirlines Arena offers an alternative to hotel ballroom settings and adds “The WOW Factor” to special events! Host your catered banquet at the home of the Miami HEAT and your event is sure to be a slam dunk! The 200′ × 80′ Arena floor is perfect for a formal sit-down dinner or a casual buffet. Allow our team to customize an exciting event with HEAT game elements such as audio-visual effects from the center-hung scoreboard and special lighting effects. Enhance your sponsorship packages with company logos on matrix and video display boards.
Premium Special Events
Entertain your guests for business or pleasure at the home of the Miami HEAT! Groups of 300 or less can enjoy an event in style in the Dewar’s Clubhouse located on the exclusive Suite Level, with a “suite view” overlooking the inside of the Arena. Your party can be the main event at AmericanAirlines Arena on non-game days.
Event Packages include event space for a four hour event:
- Set features: Restaurant style seating with tables, chairs, upscale Bar and Chef’s Table station.
- Event set-up, service staff, housekeeping and security
- Plasma TV monitors (programmed with personalized logos, messages or video)
- House sound and lighting
- Private entrance with access to Arena Parking Garage
- Early access for set-up or décor (time to be determined based on event needs and venue availability)
The Center Hung Scoreboard
THE CENTER-HUNG SCOREBOARD
The icon of the AmericanAirlines Arena is a six million dollar center-hung scoreboard, a work of art created by Boston Artist, Christopher Janney. Affectionately known as “Medusa” because of its tentacle-like appearance, the scoreboard features four (4) 16’ x 9’ Mitsubishi Diamond Vision 6 mm LED Video screens, two (2) Barco 12mm LED 360 degree display rings, and Martin Mac 600 special effects lighting. Features include;

- Entertainment, décor and audio visual can be brought in by outside vendors. Vendor approval and certificate of insurance is required to work at the Arena.
